10. Dominican Republic
From the Santo Domingo Historic District, to the friendly people, to the picturesque environment, the DR has everything you would expect from this Caribbean get away. Some of the best ways to see the DR is via a cruise or beach front resort. If you want to really enjoy the island the right way, get a place for a week in Punta Cana.
9. Turks and Caicos
Great local Caribbean food, small shops, friendly people and beautiful reefs. This island destination can help you lose yourself. The turquoise blue water and warm salt air will help you to forget all your worries. Turks and Caicos offers some of the best sunsets in the Caribbean too. Enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach or an evening bon fire to the sounds of the ocean. You can stay in Turks and Caicos for a day via a cruise or for a week (or several) at amazing lodging all over the island.
8. Grenada
The "Isle of Spice" has seen a lot over its years, with rich history from Spanish, British, French and American influences. This island is almost as far south as you can go in the Caribbean. The island has amazing food, people and beaches. It is also the perfect place to stop if you have a larger trip to South America planned. One of our favorite parts of this island paradise is the history. Between the history, beach, food, shops and water sports there is something for everyone on this little island.
7. The Virgin Islands
The Virgin Islands has something for everyone. Split between the British and the U.S. these islands are perfect for shopping, relaxing on the beach or water sports. Sail the day away on a catamaran or get lost in the shopping districts. Families will have more than enough to do with activities all over the island to suit everyone. An added bonus for American travels without a passport, is the USVI are American Territory, but it's best to have one.
6. St. Lucia
The island is perfect for those who love festivals and events. With multiple festivals held throughout the year, St. Lucia is almost always celebrating something. From the two annual Flower Festivals to the St. Lucia Carnaval everyone is sure to have an amazing time. St. Lucia also have many all inclusive resorts, romantic beaches and water activities for all ages. You never know what your next trip to the lively island of St. Lucia will hold.
5. Jamaica
Jamaica is one of the most well known islands in the Caribbean. Waterfalls, mountains, scenic beaches and culture, Jamaica is one of our favorite places to go to. Visit some of the best sites on horse back, swim in the iconic "blue hole" and enjoy the culture and local hospitality. You'll want to come back to this amazing place time and time again in order to experience everything there is to offer.
4. Barbados
Home to Carlisle Beach, Barbados is a perfect backdrop to your social media photos. Ocean adventures wait for you at this tranquil island location. Dive some of the reefs, swim with sharks, experience deep sea fishing like never before or just take in the sunset on a nice and gentle sailing cruise. This island is perfect for the wave finder in you.
3. The Bahamas
The most well known destinations in all of the Caribbean. Home to the most amazing resorts and people. The food here is next level and steel drum bands are found on the beaches at night. These islands are each unique but share a rich culture and way of life that would make anyone jealous. Experience what you are missing in your life. But word of warning, while time is slower in the islands, you will feel like your trip went too fast.
2. Antigua
Secluded coves, white sand beaches, historic buildings, kitesurfing are all things you can find yourself discovering in Antigua. The island has plenty of amazing food and hotels. Why did this island make number 2 while it has some of the same features as others on this list? Availability. While this island has some of the same amazing features as Jamaica or Bahama, it still is a less traveled location, which means less people on the beach, more romantic trips and activities and less people are your tranquil hotel pool.
1. Aruba
You just arrive at the capital, Oranjestad, you step off the plane and the warm sun and salty sea breeze hit your face, you smell fresh ocean air, palm tree and the crisp freshness of the ocean. You take a short drive to your hotel where the pool overlooks the ocean with an infinite pool, making it look as if the pool extends forever. A swim-up-bar provides all your drink needs, while the concierge books you a romantic dinner on a sail boat which will leave the dock just before sunset. The next day you get in a 4x4 Jeep to drive out to all of the little coves around the island to snorkel, seeing fish that only exist in the Southern Caribbean. Once you are in this beautiful place, you will never want to go home.
